The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was initiated by the Government of India in 2016 to foster apprenticeship opportunities across the nation. Administered by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), this scheme incentivizes organizations to engage in apprenticeship programs by offering financial support.
NAPS aims to bolster India's skilled workforce by providing practical on-the-job training to apprentices. With a target of training over 50 lakh young individuals, the scheme seeks to cultivate a culture of apprenticeship, particularly in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector, thereby enhancing productivity.
At The Big Advantage, we actively advocate for the NAPS scheme and facilitate the training of aspiring apprentices. Our goal is to cater to clients from diverse sectors by supplying them with proficient apprentices who can contribute effectively to their organizations.
Benefits of NAPS for employers
Reimbursement of 25% of the prescribed stipend, subject to a maximum of INR 1500/- per month per apprentice to all employers offering an apprenticeship.
